Economic Empowerment for Sex Workers

The skills to pay the bills

Our economic empowerment program aims to improve the financial wellbeing of sex workers through in-depth training over a series of modules. We deliver this education through a number of methods and approaches designed to explore our relationship with money.

With a multimode approach, learning about personal finance becomes accessible and enjoyable, rather than isolating and stressful. Our holistic approach delivers content through five pillars.

With regular educational videos that cover the foundations of personal finance, you are enabled to learn at your own pace, in your own time, the things you should have learned in school.

Our interactive skillsharing workshops provides the space for sex workers to consult with their peers and exchange ideas, lessons and experience.

It is unsafe for workers to disclose their work to every financial service or product, but as a community project we don’t have the same limitations. We provide reviews of sex worker friendly products and services to give you access to financial frameworks.

As we tend to remember stories more than lesson, a Community Podcast gives us a platform to share sex worker stories and vicariously learn from our mistakes and successes.

We also connect with financial experts and professionals to ask technical questions that we cannot troubleshoot by ourselves. With their expertise and under their guidance, we gain confidence to move through the financial framework.

We package all these lessons and teachings into bite-sized peices on our social media to keep you in the loop and engaged.

Collaboration with experts

Personal finance is intrinsticly tied to every part of our identity and life. There are six elements that determine ones financial wellness and our economic empowerment program targets each of these components.

For many of us, fluctuating income, constantly changing expenses and sudden debt can lead to living large one day, survival mode the next. To break the cycle of instability, we explore these six domains to help us get a handle on our economic situation: financial literacy, financial behaviours, financial resilience, financial attitudes, financial inclusion and financial capabilities.

We bring in experts in different fields and skilled sex workers to provide a variety of perspectives on the worlds of personal finance, tax and all things money. Our guests and guides help us to simplify daunting systems and operations, providing you with a clear path to your duties and opportunities.
